“Future Day” at BfS 2017

The headquarters building in Salzgitter Building SZ

On national "Future Day" on 27 April 2017, around 20 children and youths from grade 5 to grade 10 gained insight into the work of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection. In experiments and team work they got to know the BfS' topics and fields of work.

Being supervised by the BfS trainees, the youths learnt in smaller groups how radioactivity is measured, among others. Furthermore, together with the IT trainees they installed computers and got a glimpse of the work in a laboratory during a "chemical-botanical excursion".

"Future Day" is also known as "Girls' Day" or "Boys' Day", respectively. During campaigns in companies, universities and installations, children and youths have the opportunity to explore professions which may extend the traditional spectrum of professions for girls and boys.
