BOS - Basic Principles

Security authorities and organizations operate a radio network of their own strictly separated from other radio networks. For the analogue networks used earlier single frequency bands in the frequency range between 70 and 450 Megahertz were used where radio and television broadcasting are located as well.

The terrestrial trunked radio system network currently operating or being set up in many European countries operates at the standard TETRA and is comparable to GSM networks regarding structure and technical parameters. In Germany, construction of the network was completed in 2016. The Federal Agency for Digital Radio of Security Authorities and Organizations (BDBOS) is responsible for set up, operation and operability of the radio system.
