What is radioactivity? What risks and dangers are associated with the Morsleben repository? These are some of the concerns in the discussion of the decommissioning of the facility. The answers to these questions confronts them with technical terms such as measurements like Sievert and Becquerel. A survey of the basics of radioactivity and radiation protection helps to be able to better classify and evaluate information on this topic even without technical knowledge.
Many citizens question:
- What is radioactivity?
- What are its effects and how can one protect oneself?
- How is radioactivity measured?
- Where am I exposed to how much radiation?
This question and other questions were dealt with in the scope of the event series "Concerning Morsleben" on 15 September 2015 at the Morsleben information centre. Günter Brauer, BfS expert from the department Radiation Protection and Environment, gave the lecture.
The staff members of the Morsleben information centre are available for questions or additional information.
