The topping-out wreath was placed on the new building of the mine head bath and canteen building in Morsleben on 28 August. The existing mine head bath and canteen rooms of the Bartensleben mine as part of the Morsleben repository for radioactive waste (ERAM) are replaced by the new building. Reconstructing the old rooms would have been uneconomical. In particular the energetic building situation did no longer correspond with today's requirements.

After the demolition of the old canteen building at the end of 2013, construction of a combined mine head bath and canteen building started. The building will provide around 200 washing places as well as 60 canteen places for staff and visitor.

Particular emphasis was put on principles of sustainable construction. These include, apart from a sustainable and cost-saving operation of buildings, the use of environmentally friendly construction materials and the use of construction materials and components whose production and manufacture preserve the environment and do require as little energy as possible.
