Refurbishment of the hosting tower facade in Morsleben
The hoisting tower of the Morsleben repository which houses the main rope winding installation of the Bartensleben shaft and is visible from far away, is being refurbished and has been scaffolded for this purpose. On account of its exposed situation, the façade of the steel frame construction is exposed to extreme weather conditions, thus parts of it being substantially damaged after 35 years.
To protect the building, the hoisting tower will receive a new hanging façade. The new façade is also energy-saving, as it shields the interior around the shaft better than the previous façade did. The observer will only have a slightly different view of the tower. The construction measure started in October and will probably conclude in 2014.
