Stick-type Incendiary Bomb Removed from the Konrad Repository Premises
Salzgitter – When looking for warfare agents on the premises of the future Konrad repository in Salzgitter, a so-called stick-type incendiary bomb weighing approximately two kilograms has now been found for the first time.
The found stick-type incendiary bomb was located approximately 50 metres beside the K 39 industrial road and lay about three metres deep in the soil. Meanwhile it has been removed into a storage facility. In the vicinity the warfare agent tracing service additionally detected the empty launcher pipe of a bazooka.
The removal of warfare agents is a requirement included in the plan-approval decision on the erection of the Konrad repository the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) is in charge of. The repository will probably be taken into operation in 2014.
