Visit from Afar
Today, students of the Clausthal Technical University paid a visit to INFO KONRAD. Within the scope of their Master studies in Radioactive and Hazardous Waste Management they visited at first the information centre of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection before they went up to 1,300 metres underground.
The disposal of radioactive and chemo-toxic waste is an international issue. Therefore, there are a lot of students from abroad who study at the TU Clausthal. Jingwen Tian and fellow student Li Zhang are from China and attend lectures at the Technical University for four semesters. Both praised the light, friendly, and modern exhibition concept of INFO KONRAD. “I especially appreciate that the information is also provided in English,” Jingwen Tian says. “Thus, as a foreigner, I can well comprehend everything."
The students dealt with Konrad as repository for radioactive waste in seminars and lectures. Li Zhang said: “What I am seeing here complements what I already know. I can now much better imaging how disposal will take place in future.” Furthermore, the 24-year-old emphasised that INFO KONRAD addressed everyone. “It is really good that there are brochures for various target groups. Those who would like to get general information read “Answers to FAQs". And everyone who want to get detailed information study the brochure “Knowledge Creates Confidence”.”
