Opening: Great day for INFO KONRAD
On Thursday, 15th May, 2008, things had progressed to the point that the new information centre of the Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz (Federal Office for Radiation Protection), the INFO KONRAD, opened. Accompanied by TV-teams, a lot of journalists, many guests, and almost 100 demonstrators in front of the building criticising the planned repository, the INFO KONRAD started their work. Furthermore, the first visitors from Salzgitter took a look at the pit models, the presentation boards, the so-called „Gläserne Galerie“ (glass gallery), the KONRAD-movie, and the touch screens.
Since then, the information-centre has been offering a variety of information in the middle of Salzgitter-Lebenstedt close to the city-hall, Chemnitzer Straße 27. Led by the motto „Wir haben etwas zu entsorgen, aber nichts zu verbergen“ (We´ve got something to dispose but nothing to hide) the INFO Konrad staff answer all questions about presentation boards and models or explain the possibilities of how to visit the pit.
INFO KONRAD opening hours are Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday and Friday from 9am to 5pm, Thursday from 10am to 7pm, and Saturday from 10am to 2pm. On request groups and classes can also arrange different opening hours. Questions about the appointment coordination of pit visits or anything else will be answered by the INFO KONRAD, phone: +049 05341 8673099.
