Eck strengthens the BfS in the retrieval of the Asse waste
Graduate engineer Dr. Detlev Eck strengthens the Federal Office for Radiation Protection’s team dealing with the fact inquiry for the retrieval of the waste. The 57-year-old expert will take over the project management for the task. Among others, Eck was operational director at the Jülich Research Center for many years. In this function, he was also responsible for the fields of dismantling, waste management and radiation protection.
In 2008/2009, Eck was Chief Executive Officer of Asse GmbH for six months. In this function, he organised the transition of the Asse from the former operator Helmholtz to the BfS. Eck also made a comprehensive contribution to throwing light on what had happened in the Asse mine.
Currently, he is heading a working group examining on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) the radioactive inventory stored in the Asse mine.
