On-site Information
INFO ASSE
Info Asse has been providing since January 2009 first-hand information on the status and progress of work and planning relating to the decommissioning of the Asse II mine. Using films, computer animations, two three-dimensional model, plates and other materials, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) visualises the background and further steps in terms of decommissioning the Asse mine. A digital construction log informs about work being undertaken underground. In the café and meeting area of the info centre, visitors are offered space for exchanging information and discussing with BfS personnel.
Lectures, briefings, and discussions can take place here. The interested public are invited to use and further develop this place of communication about topics concerning the Asse mine and to catch up on the issue. Upon request, the Info Asse staff are also available for doing presentations at schools or events.
If you are interested in visiting the mine, please make an appointment by calling the below phone number, sending a fax or writing an e-mail to the address given below.
Tours are offered from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays. Groups of up to 14 persons can book a visit to the mine. Lead-time for applications is ca. four weeks in advance. Therefore, please book as early as possible. Persons aged 16 or above may take part in visiting tours, minors must be accompanied by an adult or need a declaration of consent by a parent or legal guardian.
Please note that specific climatic conditions prevail underground that could strain the cardiovascular system. It is essential that the visitors are basically fit, since part of the way needs to be walked on foot. You will get further information on visits to the mine in our visitors' information sheet or by phone or directly at the INFO ASSE.
