Ultrasound Diagnostics (UD)
Sonography is a frequently used imaging technique for medical diagnostics. Ultrasound diagnostics uses acoustic waves and not ionising radiation. The two most important techniques are
- the 2D imaging procedure, the so called B-mode procedure and
- the Doppler procedure.
The safety of the patient is guaranteed when recommended safety limits are respected. In this case no cavitation and overheating of the tissue will occur.
Research is still needed regarding the secure application of contrast agents – especially when assessing limits for avoiding cavitation.
