5000 Visitors at INFO KONRAD
Since INFO KONRAD opened in May 2008, already 5000 interested persons paid a visit to the information centre of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection at Chemnitzer Straße 2008 in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.
Local citizens, fire brigade, police, school classes, students, associations – the audience of INFO KONRAD is heterogeneous. For the most various reasons, the most various groups found their way to the information centre in the past eleven months. This included pupils doing investigations for a project, citizens living near the mine and wanted to get information for that reason, or foreign experts who were interested in how the repository question is being solved in Germany. The questions being asked are as manifold as the visitors to the information centre. The INFO KONRAD team individually attends to the groups and is responsive to all questions. From Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. or, respectively, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., the INFO KONRAD team provides information about the planned repository in lectures and in personal talks.
Apart from the information offer in Salzgitter Lebenstedt, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection also provides the opportunity to visit the Konrad mine. Since June 2008, more than 3200 visitors have used this offer and participated in a visit to the mine.
Also our internet page www.endlager-konrad.de enjoys great interest. Since May 2008, approximately 40,000 internet users visited the homepage of the future Konrad repository.
