Wirtschaftsvereinigung Salzgitter Pays Visit to INFO KONRAD
Kick-off was at nine o’clock sharp: Wirtschaftsvereinigung Salzgitter (Salzgitter Trade Association) paid visit to INFO KONRAD with a subsequent visit of the mine. Whether bank managers, driving instructors, opticians, or tax accountants – the members of the trade association sought detailed information in the exhibition rooms at Chemnitzer Straße 27. They made intensive use of the option of posing questions to the INFO KONRAD team and discussing problems.
Armin Ehlers, corporate accounts manager, especially praised the “professional film”. “I am a local resident and consider it important getting information about Konrad. That’s why I visit the mine today. I want to see where the radioactive waste will be stored later on”, says the 43-year-old.
“Modern, friendly, and objective” - these are the attributes Kerstin Peggau describes INFO KONRAD with. It is essential that such an information centre exists. The need for information and clarification does exist and many questions are raised especially through the media reports. Although the 37-year-old tax accountant does not live right in Salzgitter she considers coming to terms with the repository to be essential.
A reporter went underground with the trade association, up to 1300 metres below the earth's surface. The Salzgitter Zeitung of October 1, 2008, provides more information about what the visitors experienced in the Konrad mine and what impressions they collected. The article gives a detailed picture of the shaft visit, starting with the changing of clothes and ending with the soup. You can also find the article in the internet in our Pressearchiv or directly on Newsclick.de.
